ukkarai / okkarai

 Ingredients 

100 gm Bengal gram 

50 gm green gram dal ( Yellow dal)

150 gm Jaggery or Brown sugar 

1/2 tsp cardamom powder 

3 tbsp Coconut ( Grated )

2 tbsp Ghee 

10 gm Cashew nuts 

Method 

1. Soak the dal  for 1 hour

2. Boil the the dal till mashing texture 

3. Boil 1 cup of water then add jaggery or brown sugar, make it as syrup 

4. meanwhile heat the ghee then roast the cashews till light brown, remove it and keep it aside 

5. In same ghee roast the grated coconut

6. In the boiling syrup, add mashed dal, mix it continues to avoid lumps then cook it till dry 

7. Add the powdered cardamom, roasted  cashews, and roasted coconut, then make it like a halwa
